Department of Agriculture
It functions under the Ministry of Agriculture and has a network of organizations for agricultural development. Its major functions include: research, extension, production of seed and planting material, regulatory services related to plant quarantine, soil conservation and pesticides.
Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian research and Training Institute (HARTI)
It is the premier national Institute in the field of socio-economic research relating to agrarian sector in Sri Lanka and it provides training to farmers and field workers and also up to date market information to farmers, traders and policy makers.
Ministry of Livestock Development Srilanka
It is deals with the implementation of policies, plans and programmes of the livestock and development planning and execution of veterinary services and research and development of livestock industry.
Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH)
It functions under the Ministry of Livestock and Rural Community Development. It is responsible for providing technical leadership to the livestock Industry and its stakeholders in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (CARP)
Its mission is to strengthen and mobilize research capabilities of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS), Universities, Private Sector and other stakeholders in Partnership in the generation and dissemination of appropriate technologies and information for the development of Agricultural sector.
Post graduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya
University of Peradeniya was established in 1975 with the main objective of developing in-country capacity for postgraduate education in agriculture and to provide appropriately trained scientific personnel for a rapidly expanding agricultural sector of the country.
